Dressage Superstar Steffen Peters is Targeting 2023 FEI World Cup™ Finals

The Chance to Ride in Omaha Next Year is a Major Goal

Even before the qualifying competitions for next year’s FEI Dressage World Cup™ Finals in Omaha begin, some of the sport’s biggest names are starting to prepare for what they hope will be a spot in the line-up.

The Finals return to Omaha, April 4-8, 2023 and if you want to see the best Dressage horses and riders from around the world (as well the best in Jumping and Vaulting!), then you should be sure to make your plans to attend right now!

For more than a quarter century, Steffen Peters has been this country’s most successful dressage rider and one of the top riders anywhere in the world. He has ridden in five Olympic Games, winning one Silver and two Bronze medals. And it should be noted that those five Olympic appearances came on four different horses, showing just how talented a rider this 58-year-old superstar is.

In addition, Peters was a double Gold medalist at both of his Pan American Games appearances and he is one of only two Americans ever to win the FEI Dressage World Cup Finals, claiming the highly coveted title in 2009 on his longtime partner, Ravel.

Peters, who lives in California and was the first rider in any discipline to be selected as the U.S. Equestrian of the Year three times (2008, 2009, 2011), was discussing his goals earlier this year and he made it quite clear that number one on his list is qualifying to ride in next April’s World Cup Finals in Omaha!

Only 18 riders qualify to compete in the Dressage World Cup™ Final and there’s a maximum of only three allowed from any one country so it is no sure bet that Peters, or any rider, will make it. Still, given the incredible record Peters has amassed over the years, I sure wouldn’t bet against him; and given that he is one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, I’m hoping he'll make it and that we’ll have the chance to cheer on one of the greatest riders our sport has ever seen!

Get ready for April 4-8, 2023 when the FEI World Cup™ Finals return to Omaha! In addition to the Finals for Dressage, the World Cup Finals at the CHI Health Center Omaha will also host the Finals for Jumping and Vaulting, marking the first time ever that the FEI Vaulting World Cup™ Finals are being held in North America!
